Everyone is welcome at FotoFest
Calling all photography enthusiasts, FotoFest Hastings annual photography festival, is back for 2024.
Since 2021, we've been bringing together photographers, artists, and anyone who just loves the art of photography. Join us from September 14th to 22nd in Hastings for a week of exhibitions, workshops, and talks that'll inspire, challenge, and connect you with others.
We want everyone to feel welcome at FotoFest.
We're working with community groups and organisations to make sure the festival is accessible to all. We have activities for all ages, including fun promotions and competitions for young people. We're also partnering with businesses across the region to bring you a truly community-wide event.
We're committed to showcasing diversity. We want to represent people from all walks of life in our exhibitions and events. We're also working to support emerging photographers and artists, providing them with opportunities to share their work with the public.
We believe that photography has the power to educate and inspire. Our workshops will help emerging creatives grow their skills.
FotoFest is more than just a festival. It's a way to celebrate the art of photography and bring community together.

Happy Bay News Media Team
Our media programme sees a team of young creatives working on stories of people in the community, publishing words, photos and film through our e news, printed publication and 'Happy Waves" podcast.
Same time, learning new skills, meeting new people, making friends while uplifting our community through a youth voice and perspective.

School Holiday workshops
Recently, we held a film making workshop where we captured Hastings "Best Bits" around the city and created a movie.
We also ran an Autumn workshop in Cornwall park with the local Homeschool community.

Capture the Moment with IHC NZ
We love the relationship we have with IHCNZ and have recently travelled to three cities to promote Capture the Moment, IHC's photography competition and exhibition, held during FotoFest.
As well we work with our local team and also nationally online every Wednesday with Happy Snappers, and IHC Media, come join us !

Regenerate Age Friendly/ Youth exhibition
We teamed up with Age Friendly NZ to create a really special exhibition. It showed the bond between young people and older adults in our community, especially after the recent lockdowns. The photos were printed on soft fabric, so you could walk through and see them in a unique way. It was a heartwarming experience that you won't forget.
Online Workshops
We recently ran an online 5 day youth workshop around our environment and how photography can assist in our own well-being. Check out some of the images from those who took part.
